Aye-Aye
AYE-AYE
The Aye-Aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) is a special kind of lemur and the close relative of a primate, native to the island Madagascar. The Aye-Aye are mainly dark brown or black and have a distinctive bushy tail that's larger than it's body. Like other lemurs, they have big round eyes and slender fingers. Although a lemur, Aye-ayes get confused with other types of mammals, such as monkeys, rodents, sloths, weasels, and so on.
Aye-Ayes are arboreal lemurs which means they spend most of their lives high in trees . People barely see them because they almost never walk on the ground, but instead hopping from tree to tree. They are nocturnal, which means that they sleep in the daytime and are awake at night. Although they have big eyes, their ears are the main tools used to sense where stuff are.

Aye-Ayes have a very unique way to hunt their food. Aye-Ayes like to eat bugs and their favorites often hide in trees. They find a way to get to them thanks to their ears, teeth and unique fingers. They find out which trees has bugs in them by knocking on them to see if they can hear the bugs inside. Aye-Ayes have a rodent like teeth that can be used to gnaw on trees and make a small opening leading to the inside of the tree. They then use their long and slender fingers to go inside the opening and impale the bugs which they then bring outside to eat.
Aye-Ayes live inside trees where they then build bird like nests made out of branches, leaves, and vines. Aye-Ayes are solitary animals which means that they mark their homes with their scent. Unlike most animals, male Aye-Ayes are pretty friendly with each other and sometimes even share a nest together, until a female is looking for a mate.
